How to repoint vCenter server to another Platform Service Controller

In case you need to repoint your vCenter server to another Platform Service Controller, there are several possible scenarios. Repointing to the PSC within the same site, repointing to the PSC in another site and reconfiguring vCenter w/embedded PSC to vCenter with external PSC.

In this article, I will cover steps to repoint vCenter server to the external PSC within the same site. Start SSH session with your vCenter server, get into the shell, and use the following command to repoint vCenter server to another external PSC:

cmsso-util repoint --repoint-psc v-psc02.sefnet.local

You  should replace v-psc02.sefnet.local with the address of your secondary PSC. Note that address MUST be FQDN or an IP address. If your PSC runs on HTTS port other than default 443, you need to specify the port in the command:

cmsso-util repoint --repoint-psc v-psc02.sefnet.local --dc-port 444
