To build a routed wifi network using Raspberry Pi we will use hostapd and dnsmasq software. In this example, our home network is 184.108.40.206/24 and the new network we will use for wifi is 220.127.116.11/24. Please note that throughput on the Raspberry Pi wifi interface is limited and you should not expect speeds higher than 25-30Mbps.
To start the installation, download the Raspberry Pi Imager from the official Raspberry Pi website. Insert the SD card (min. 8GB) and select Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS from the list of the available operating systems. Once the write and verify is complete, insert the SD card in the raspberry pi, connect the HDMI, network cable, and power source.
